Since my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child we have been overjoyed. We cannot wait for her arrival in November and lately we have been spending our weekends preparing. We’ve been trying to finish up home improvement projects, cleaning out closets, and decorating the nursery. It seems as if the list of stuff we ”need” to finish grows faster by the day. This is most likely due to pregnancy hormones that cause me to wake up in the middle of the night and decide that we must repaint or rearrange something before the baby is born. Anyway, in the midst of all this hormonal nesting we were advised that we should plan a Babymoon, at least a few days away, just the two of us, before the baby arrives. I loved this idea and immediatley refocused some of my hormonal craziness on trying to plan our trip. As someone loves to travel I realize that we won’t be taking off on as many last minute trips as we do now. We only have a few months left as a twosome so we should take some time to celebrate how far we’ve come and the new adventure we are about to embark on together. Lucky for us many travel suppliers are catering to couples just like us and have special Babymoon packages. Most offer weekend getaway packages that include spa treatments, special treats for mom and baby, and in-room luxuries for the couple. The Fairmont in Chicago offers moms the chance to create their own custom ice cream flavor, a $50 gift card for shopping at Macy’s, an in-room massage, and a consultation with Chicago jewler Kristen Amato to design their own “push present”. The Hotel Teatro in Denver offers moms a pedicure and a gifts for the new arrival. At Mohegan Sun, Dad can spend some time playing in the casino while mom enjoys a pregnancy massage and ice cream. Now the hard part is choosing a destination!
Have you been on a Babymoon? Any suggestions for us?
