Spring is the perfect time to explore some of America’s greatest National Treasures- our national parks. More than 100 national parks, including Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone, Acadia and many others are waiving admission fees on select days throughout 2011. Don’t miss National Park Week, running April 16-24, when parks from coast to coast will be offering free entry all week long! Can’t make it out to a national park this Spring? Plan a visit for the first day of summer (June 21), Public Lands Day (June 24) or during Veterans Day Weekend (November 11-13), and enjoy free admission.

With Memorial Day behind us the summer season has officially begun.  That means camping, hiking, swimming, fishing  and just generally enjoying the great outdoors.  What better way to do that by checking out some of our National Parks.  Where else can you find scenery like this shot from the Grand Canyon at the Tapeats Creek and Colorado River.

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from Mary, founder of Besttraveldeals.net.  Over the summer Mary traveled with her son to Yosemite and brought back some amazing shots including this one of Yosemite Valley.   If you’ve never been to Yosemite this picture will certainly inspire you to go.

For more information on our nation’s National Parks be sure to check out PBS’s special “The National Parks” which is airing all week on PBS.

Also don’t forget to share your own travel photos on our facebook page for chances to win prizes such as an Amex gift card.
